LONDON, July 2019 – Masterpiece London presented an extraordinary array of jewellery, from contemporary to vintage and antique, highlighting the enduring appeal of highly skilled craftsmanship.

The Masterpiece London Art Fair, which ran from June 27 to July 3, attracted connoisseur collectors across the spectrum of art, furniture, clocks, rare books and jewellery, and has become a leading event of the London social season in June and July, alongside Royal Ascot, Henley Regatta and Wimbledon. Visitors to the show this year included Laurence Graff.

In terms of jewellery, mirroring their recent success in the secondary high-value auctions market, antique diamond tiaras were out in force at S.J. Phillips and at first-time exhibitor Bentley & Skinner.

Exquisite coloured diamond jewellery and coloured gem-set jewellery were showcased at Bond Street jewellers Moussaieff and Chatila, while original Faberge pieces stood out at Wartski, who recently moved their showroom to a high-profile spot on St James’s Street, and at Bentley & Skinner.

Moussaieff presented one of the jewellery highlights at Masterpiece -- a superb pink diamond ring weighing more than 5 carats.

Among antique jewellers, Wartski and Bentley & Skinner saw strong footfall at their stands throughout the show.

“The highest quality pieces will always attract buyers,” said Bentley & Skinner’s Paul Greer, referring to the extraordinary craftsmanship used to create the finest pieces of jewellery stocked at the Piccadilly-based jeweller.

Vintage and antique pieces of jewellery were on show at Verdura, which has historic ties to Hollywood, and at Monaco-based Veronique Bamps, where a number of Art Deco pieces were on display.

The common denominator in the high jewellery featured at Masterpiece, from Van Cleef & Arpels to Chopard and Grima, was the high quality of craftsmanship used to create some of the most extraordinary items seen at the fair.
