MUMBAI, February 14, 2019 – Respected analyst Paola De Luca, speaking at the Design Inspiration forum at the IIJS Signature trade show, urged Indian designers to “deconstruct then reconstruct” to meet global design tastes.

She gave a presentation to emerging Indian designers, appealing to them to challenge conceived wisdom and to look outward to the fast-changing world.

“You have to ‘deconstruct then reconstruct’,” she said, urging designers to “think outside of the box” to stay attuned to global design trends, such as reinterpreted Art Deco styles with a contemporary twist.

De Luca was in Mumbai to launch the book “AATMAN – Inspirations 2020”, edited by a team of international jewellery analysts at her company The Futurist. The book was created to inspire Indian design talent on the global stage.

The book launch took place at the Royal Opera House on February 13, following the Artisan Awards, hosted by India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), to celebrate Indian jewellery craftsmanship.
