About J luxury buying event “exceeded expectations”
VICENZA, September 9, 2012 – Vicenza Fair and top tier jewellers reported a high level of enquiries and orders at the about J luxury buying event which took place in the resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo in northern Italy from September 5-7, Corrado Facco, General Manager of the Vicenza Fair, said.
Corrado Facco
“It was beyond our expectations, in view of the fragile global economic situation,” Facco told Jewellery Outlook in an interview on the sidelines of the Fall edition of VICENZAORO, which immediately followed about J.
“We knew that we were organising the event in the proper way, selecting the buyers one by one, and trying to create the right ‘match making’ before the event.”
Facco said the feedback from about J had been positive, because buyers said the show was well organised and appreciated the collections showcased by jewellers such as Roberto Coin, Hellmuth Simply Good, and Mattioli.
“For them (buyers) it was an opportunity to establish relationships with new vendors,” Facco said.
The stands at about J, located in the Grand Hotel Savoia, were constantly busy as a packed schedule of appointments took place between buyers and jewellers.
A senior executive with Stefan Hafner told Jewellery Outlook the brand had received strong enquiries at about J and follow-up appointments during VICENZAORO Fall.
Mattia Cielo reported his own “best ever about J”, referring to strong enquiries and orders from buyers based in North America and the Middle East.
Rodney Rayner, the sole designer from the UK exhibiting at about J, reported a strong flow of orders for his pieces.
“We have had several orders. The show has been very good,” he said.
“We have sat with buyers from all over the world: Americans, Canadians.
“We have seen people from Dubai, Azerbaijan.”
