IJL Catwalk trends from Paola De Luca
IJL trends editors and international jewellery futurist, Paola De Luca, will present her forecast for jewellery trend themes for Spring-Summer 2020 on the IJL Catwalk. Her vision includes authentic designs that subvert deep-rooted stereotypes with gender, touches on societal pressure with minimalism and brings to life an organic amalgamation of nineteenth century deco with nature; all the while toying with abstract shapes, futuristic expression and dark jewels.
Spotlight on Sheffield
This new feature, launched in 2018, shines a spotlight on one UK or world jewellery hub each year. This year Spotlight on Sheffield exhibit, in association with Sheffield Assay Office, Sheffield Institute of Arts part of Sheffield Hallam University and Yorkshire Artspace, will be opened by The Lord Mayor of Sheffield on Sunday 1 September. It is a collaboration between industry, education and commerce; from the Assay Office Sheffield to the manufacturers, designers, wholesalers and retailers, Spotlight on Sheffield will be a chance to showcase the city – past, present and future.
Experts, exhibitors and seminars will underpin the focus on the role of retail in selling jewellery. Seminars include: Strategy Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated: Lessons from Retail Jewellers with Michael Donaldson, The Value Innovator (Sunday 1 September 16:00 – 16:45 The Knowledge Hub); and Learning from Fashion: Embracing Systems and Tech to Deliver the Ultimate Shopping Experience with Ruth Faulkner, Retail Jeweller (Monday 2 September 13:45 – 14:45 The Knowledge Hub).
