Commenting on the sale of Hong Kong Jewels and Jadeite, Bonhams Director of Jewellery and Head of Jewellery Department Asia, Stewart Young said: “We are pleased with today’s result, which totals HK$54million. The bidding was robust across genres, but especially for items that are rare in the market, such as our top lot – a 50.24-carat ruby and diamond necklace boasting the prestigious ‘pigeon’s blood’ colour with exceptional clarity, a fancy red diamond ring, and a private collection of Tiffany & Co. jewellery from a Canadian philanthropist, in which many lots sold for multiples of their estimates. With strong results in both traditional live sales and online sales, our auction total achieved in 2022 thus far has marked Bonhams’ four-year high for jewellery in Asia, which gives us confidence going into 2023.”
