Christie’s has announced Magnificent Jewels, a live sale that will take place at Rockefeller Center on December 6, 2023, and the concurrent Jewels Online which will be open for bidding from 28 November to 8 December, 2023.

Magnificent Jewels, Christie’s final live jewelry auction of 2023, will offer striking colored diamonds in a dazzling array of hues, impressive white diamonds, and richly saturated colored stones. In addition to covetable gemstones, the sale features signed jewels from a variety of makers including Buccellati, Bulgari, Cartier, David Webb, Graff, Harry Winston, Jean Schlumberger, Oscar Heyman & Brothers, René Boivin, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, and Verdura. Magnificent Jewels will feature property from the Collection of Adolphus Andrews, Jr. and Emily Taylor Andrews, the Collection of Margaret Thompson Biddle, the Collection of Ivan and Genevieve Reitman, the Collection of Julian and Josephine Robertson, and Property from a Distinguished Palm Beach Collection including an impressive 42.97 carat Graff Diamond Ring ($500,000 – 700,000).

The sale includes a ‘Reclining Lion’ brooch by René Boivin ($300,000 – 500,000) from the Collection of Julian and Josephine Robertson. One of the houses most recognizable motifs, this particular brooch is set with variously shaped diamonds in multi-colored hues and an emerald mane, representing an opportunity for collectors to acquire an exceedingly rare and important example of this iconic design.

Leading the sale are the California Sunset Diamonds, featuring a rare pair of fancy vivid orange-yellow diamonds of 12.20 and 11.96 carats ($7,000,000–12,000,000).

Other important lots include a Kashmir sapphire ring of 8.91 carats, by Tiffany & Co. ($700,000 – 1,000,000), a Burmese ruby and diamond ring of 7.31 carats ($1,000,000 – 2,000,000) and a Colombian emerald ring of 9.13 carats ($200,000 – 300,000).

Furthermore, the sale will showcase signed jewelry from the Collection of Margaret Thompson Biddle, which includes a Cartier Emerald, Diamond, and Ruby Brooch featuring carved emeralds, cabochon rubies, and diamonds circa 1945 ($200,000-300,000) and a Chaumet Art Deco Tiara circa 1930 ($50,000 – 70,000). Another highlight is from the Ivan & Genevieve Reitman: A Life in Pictures collection, a Fancy Intense Yellow Diamond Ring of 12.03 carats ($100,000-150,000) and a Diamond Ring of 9.37 carats ($250,000-$350,000).

Sales will continue with Jewels Online, featuring a curated selection of fine jewelry, perfect for the holiday season. The sale will include cufflinks, diamond rings, and designs from renowned houses such as Buccellati, Cartier, David Webb, Harry Winston, Jean Schlumberger, Marina B, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, Verdura, and more. With over 300 lots across various price points, many lots are offered without reserve. The sale will open for bidding from November 28 through December 8.

Highlights from the collection will be in Hong Kong from November 23 to November 27. The sales will be on view in New York from December 1 through December 5.
