VENICE, Italy, January 23, 2011 – Venice has hundreds of jewellery shops, ranging from top tier brands like Cartier, Bulgari and Damiani to the proliferation of costume jewellery boutiques that abound in the narrow lanes intersecting the waterways.

St. Mark’s Square is a prime jewellery hub, accommodating retailers like Boncompagni which stocks Vicenza-based brand Roberto Coin.
In the lanes leading from St. Mark’s Square, brands such as Cartier, Pandora and Vhernier, which is on the Calle Vallaresso, near the renowned Harry’s Bar, cater to foreign tourists who are based in the luxury hotels alongside the Grand Canal.
A common sight as one meanders along the passageways around the Rialto bridge, are the costume jewellers who fill their window displays with colourful Murano glass beads in a myriad of combinations.
Costume jewels made from Murano glass can cost as little as 15 euros, stretching up to around 150 euros for necklaces sold in galleries such as the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, which is located beside the Grand Canal.
