Bonhams appoints Stewart Young as Director of Jewellery and Head of Jewellery, Asia

The international auction house Bonhams has announced the appointment of Stewart Young as Director of Jewellery and Head of Jewellery Asia, effective immediately.

Based in Hong Kong, Stewart will manage Bonhams’ Jewellery Department in Asia, including business getting, selling strategies and operations.

He will also work with the wider global jewellery team on promoting all sales within the region. Initially, Stewart will work alongside Leslie Roskind who, after two highly successful years of leading the jewellery department, will be taking up a new post with Bonhams in her native New York in the summer.

Stewart brings to Bonhams over 10 years of experience in the auction industry, first as Deputy Director, Specialist at Sotheby’s and then as Director of Jewellery at Tiancheng International Auctioneer, before pursuing his passion in design as an independent jeweller.

For more than a decade prior to his involvement in the jewellery market, Stewart had already established an international track record in costume design for film, stage and TV productions alike. Raised in Hong Kong and Canada, Stewart speaks fluent Cantonese, Mandarin and English, and is a GIA-certified graduate gemologist.

The next Hong Kong Jewels and Jadeite sale will take place on 22 June this year.
