Boost in exhibitors at Inhorgenta Munich jewellery and watches fair
MUNICH, Germany, February 18, 2017 – Exhibitor numbers were up around 5 percent year-on-year at Inhorgenta Munich as the jewellery and watches trade show opened its doors on February 18.
Germany´s Federal Jewelers’ Association said 987 exhibitors from 40 countries were taking part in the 2017 edition of Inhorgenta.
It said the German market for watches and jewellery had slipped marginally in 2016, by 1.2 percent to 4.73 billion euros.
Stephan Lindner, president of the jewellers´group, said the slight decline was linked to weaker sales to tourists.
Lindner added that jewellers in Germany had increased turnover from sales of costlier items.
Highlights of Inhorgenta included a packed seminar programme, such as a presentation by Jeremy Abbett, former Creative Evangelist at Google, who was set to talk about the “Shop of the Future”, and a talk by renowned gemstone expert Joanna Hardy.
Glamorous fine jewellery catwalk events were scheduled to kick off at 1730 GMT in Hall B1 on February 18.
Inhorgenta Munich runs until February 21, 2017.
