Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels win Andrea Palladio jewellery awards

VICENZA, Italy, May 19, 2012 – Paris-based luxury brands Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels won Andrea Palladio International Jewellery Awards for Best Jewellery Communications Campaign and Best International Jewellery Brand Collection.
The awards, chosen by a panel of experts, were presented for the first time at the inauguration of the Spring edition of the Vicenza Oro jewellery trade fair, which runs from May 19 to 23.

Cartier won the award for Best Jewellery Communications Campaign for a commercial film showing its iconic panther traversing the globe. The film includes symbols of key markets India and China, such as the elephant and the dragon, as well as the Place Vendôme, home of Paris’s fine jewellers.
Van Cleef & Arpels won the accolade for Best International Jewellery Brand Collection, against stiff competition from brands such as H. Stern and Tiffany.

“The collection shows the savoir faire of our jewellery artisans at Place Vendôme,” Geraldine de Vulpian, a director of Van Cleef & Arpels, told a distinguished audience of jewellers at the inauguration ceremony of the Spring edition of the Vicenza jewellery fair. Van Cleef & Arpels is based at 22 Place Vendôme.
Crivelli won Best Italian Jewellery Brand Collection. Crivelli produces unique pieces of extraordinary fine jewellery, giving its own multi-coloured interpretation to classical style.
Amsterdam-based  Gijs Bakker won the award for Best International Jewellery Designer. Bakker trained as a jewellery and industrial-designer at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and the Konstfack Skolen in Stockholm, Sweden.  His designs cover jewellery, home accessories and household appliances, furniture, interiors, public spaces and exhibitions.
Giampaolo Babetto won Best Italian Jewellery Designer.  Babetto’s work as a jewellery maker and metalsmith has been exhibited around the world from Rome to Tokyo. After studying at the P. Selvatico Art Institute in Padua, Babetto studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice.

Dodo, part of the Pomellato group, won the award for Best International Jewellery Flagship Store. The shop, based on Sloane Square in London, sells both Dodo and Pomellato jewellery.
Norwegian silversmith Tone Vigeland won the Andrea Palladio Special Career Award. She is known internationally for both jewellery and metal-based clothing design. Vigeland is a graduate of Norway’s National College of Art and Design and the Oslo Yrkesskole.
