CMJ regional meetings end after successful run of 11 days

July 2, 2014 – After travelling around the country, the Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) executive team has concluded a successful series of eleven regional meetings in May and June to discuss CMJ activities with its retail members.

The CMJ executive team held the meetings across the UK and Ireland, taking in Glasgow, Dublin, Manchester, Rugby, Wolverhampton, Newmarket, Hatfield, London, Sevenoaks, Chichester, and Bristol.
The Regional Meetings were held as a way for the group’s retail members to find out more about the CMJ and how it works, and to give feedback on the strategy of the group going forwards.
Topics discussed at each event included an overview of the role and function of the CMJ and its executive team, and a presentation of the key drivers of the group as it moves forward.
CMJ chief executive Willie Hamilton said: “As the CMJ has grown so dramatically over the past few years, we have been listening to members who have told us they would prefer to network on a more regular basis in smaller, informal groups.

“This series of meetings, which we will be repeating again in the future, has proved to be extremely worthwhile in helping us listen to our membership and for our membership to more fully understand the strategy and direction that the CMJ is taking.”
CMJ members taking part in the regional meetings commented:
“Once again an inspiring day spent with fellow CMJ members. Thank you to the CMJ team for the exceptional organisation. I will go home feeling positive and buzzing with ideas.” Angel Richmond-Davies, Davies Jewellers
“Would definitely recommend. What a fantastic afternoon. I have learnt lots and would recommend to everyone. It’s great to have a local CMJ “get together”.” Linda Piggott, Piggotts
“It was very useful to network with fellow members in my area and discuss business issues. I came away with a fresh outlook.” Les Basham, G Tydeman
“All members should attend as it is always the topics you don’t expect that give you the most benefit. Also I may have made a contact to buy pre-owned watches from another member – I was not expecting that!” Peter Vandome, Andersons of Warwick
“To have Willie, the Board and Lucy at your disposal in this format is invaluable to all members that attend and a great loss to those that don’t.” Graeme Mitchell, TB Mitchell
The CMJ will be holding further networking sessions for members and its approved suppliers at its UK Jewellery Business Conference in October. More details on the conference and how to book tickets to attend will be released soon.
