The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) has made the decision to cancel its Autumn Trade Event, which was due to take place on 2 and 3 August.

Emmet Cummins, Managing Director of the CMJ, said: “The most important issue for us has always been to guarantee a safe environment for our teams, exhibitors and visitors.

“In the absence of information concerning the date and conditions under which the current Covid-19 crisis and social distancing restrictions might end, and also bearing in mind that it is now difficult for many brands to comfortably design and produce new collections, we believe that there is no other option but to cancel the event.”

The CMJ has been in contact with members at its weekly virtual Growth & Learning Network meetings about how it might be able to bring suppliers and members together in smaller groups or on a virtual basis later in the year, as a possible alternative to its bi-annual trade show.

These discussions are ongoing and will be evaluated as the easing of lockdown measures and rules on social distancing are clarified.Company of Master Jewellers
