Designer Nehal Shah, inspired by kings of India

MUMBAI, India, August 6, 2011 – Nehal Shah, a GIA graduate and rising star among Indian jewellery designers, is inspired by the kings of India and adapts her creations to the tastes of the modern woman.
“The whole inspiration is traditional Indian jewellery that was worn by the kings of India,” Nehal, who is based in Mumbai, told Jewellery Outlook in an interview.
Inspired by India’s regal past, she said her creations seek to reinvent traditional designs for the modern woman.
A graduate gemologist from GIA in the United States, Nehal operates through her signature line “NEHAL SHAH”, specialising in diamond and handmade polki and jadtar jewellery.
Nehal said she was looking to grow her business in the UK market and plans to visit IJL in September.
She said soaring prices of precious materials had eaten into her sales volumes, but turnover in value terms was holding up because of the higher prices.
