PureJewels’ Laura Strand wins design award

Fei Liu

LONDON, March 2012 – Laura Strand, head designer for luxury brand PureJewels, received the silver award for her innovative use of coloured gemstones at the Goldsmiths’ Craftsmanship & Design Awards on March 5.
The category, sponsored by gemstone specialist Marcia Lanyon, recognised the designed piece for its contemporary style, use of precious materials and the innovative use of coloured gem stones.
The Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council, which was founded in 1908, still carries forward its original remit to encourage, stimulate and promote the pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship and design.
The piece of jewellery designed by Laura was inspired by the Indian elephant and the vibrant colours of India which was expressed in her exotic use of gemstones.
The winning piece is part of a wider collection that will be launched by PureJewels later this year.
