Exquisite jewels, silverware on show in week two of Goldsmiths’ Fair
LONDON, October 5, 2014 – Exquisite hand crafted jewellery and silverware was on show during week two of Goldsmiths’ Fair.
Standout pieces included fire opal rings by Ornella Iannuzzi, and colourful necklaces featuring textured, warm 22-carat gold by Charmian Harris.
“I use the simplest of hand tools and employ traditional techniques for both casting and hand-forming,” Harris said.
Exceptional silverware pieces included sculptural vessels from Juliette Bigley, which could stand alone as decorative objects or be used as fruit bowls in the home, for example.
“I use a range of traditional techniques to make collections of objects, especially vessels, which are characterful and eloquent,” Bigley said.
“My work, being both sculptural and functional, communicates as much through form as through use.”
Ray Walton created hand-raised silverware inspired by spiraling and swirling forms.
The range includes boxes featuring fossils and shells which have natural spiral patterns, combining contemporary design with the natural world.
Goldsmiths’ Fair ended on October 5, 2014.
