GemCloud today presented its digital platform for coloured gemstone trading which supports a sustainable supply chain as its core value.
GemCloud, in a virtual news conference to the international trade press, presented some of its inventory of more than 10,000 gemstones, which are shown with detailed, transparent specifications. The latest video technology allows virtual buyers to inspect gemstones closely.
“Our technology supports the transparency of the journey of a gemstone from mine to market,” Gemolith CEO Veronica Favoroso, an Italian lawyer who leads GemCloud, said.
“Sustainability is our core value.”
GemCloud plans to seek membership of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) and CIBJO-World Jewellery Confederation, Ms. Favoroso said.
GemCloud’s founders include respected gemstone dealer Richard Haruni of London-based Haruni Fine Jewels, who is Vice-President (Europe) of the platform, which has gathered a large network of buyers around the world.
The pandemic has accelerated opportunities for new digital trading platforms for coloured gemstones, such as Gembridge and The Jewelers Circle.
