Digital marketplace Gembridge has launched a collection of around 50 very well cut Australian sapphires in a variety of colours, extracted from the responsibly sourced Capricorn sapphire belt in Queensland.
The stones come in primarily fancy colours such as teal green/blue and blue/green, yellow and green, whilst many bi-colour stones are available in special fancy cutting styles. The collection includes a large proportion of “no heat” stones, whilst the in-vogue colours of Australian sapphires are highlighted with typical blue green and green blue hues.
The regulations in place for mining and export of Australian stones from the Capricorn Sapphire mine are covered by the Queensland mining regulations which were stringently followed in terms of workers’ benefits, safety, land reclamation after mining and export of rough following the applied tax laws of Australia.
“Fancy sapphires, particularly teal green and teal blue colours, are now in high demand worldwide along with very well cut greens and yellows,” Gembridge said.
These stones are available for both the trade and the general public as demand across the board is strong.
Given the fact that Australian sapphires are predominantly responsibly mined and have such a long history of supply, the demand outlook is very bright, particularly given that the small sizes available allow for calibration which the jewellery market worldwide requires.
