A highlight of the first day was the introduction to the trade of Simon Forrester, the new Chief Executive of the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ), who expressed his ambition to deepen ties across the industry and strengthen training projects and communications.

Special features of Jewellery & Watch included sessions to Meet the Experts, and the Atelier showcase presenting design trends in jewellery and watches happening now through to 2019.

Stands such as Gecko, Hockley Mint and Clogau saw brisk footfall on the first day of the show, which traditionally attracts visitors from independent retail jewellers taking advantage of the Sunday closure of their stores.

Jewellery & Watch runs until February 8.
