BIRMINGHAM, England, November 28, 2015 – Assay Office Birmingham continues to forge a new, ambitious future for itself and the jewellery trade, announcing an exciting collaboration with Holts Academy.

The joint venture will launch a new centre of apprenticeships, learning and development from AOB’s new Moreton Street premises in the heart of Birmingham’s thriving Jewellery Quarter.
Holts Academy will take residency in a purpose-built section of the new building, next door to the recently announced partnership with Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery.
The Holts team will provide local apprenticeship training tailored to the UK trade. The educational space will provide an excellent learning resource for students, those seeking further personal development and young people looking for career prospects.
Jason Holt CBE, Director of Holts Academy said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce our partnership with Assay Office Birmingham. This move is a strategic one that places Holts Academy in the heart of the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter and allows us to continue to grow as the major training provider delivering apprenticeships, qualifications and short courses to the UK jewellery industry.

“Our new location at 1 Moreton Street will position us at the heart of the trade, increasing our accessibility to the industry and improving our understanding of the skills required by jewellery businesses in and around Birmingham and across the Midlands.”
Presently, Assay Office Birmingham is putting the final touches to tailor-made classrooms and workspaces for Holts Academy, with the London-founded organisation set to move in after Christmas.
Commenting on this latest educational addition to the Assay Office Birmingham offering, CEO and Assay Master, Stella Layton, said: “This next strategic step for us is key to our continuous improvement strategy, and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to support the industry and develop our Academy proposition. I am delighted to welcome Jason, Jaine and the Holts team to our new facility, and look forward to working with them closely and helping them to develop this exciting proposition. As they support their Midlands and the North customer base from our location.“
Holts Academy aims to both meet and anticipate the needs for Further Education and Higher Education levels of training through its work with Assay Office Birmingham. Its development of a National Skills Academy for the Midlands within the Jewellery Quarter will soon be equal to the facilities provided by Holts Academy in London, which has already established itself as a leading provider of jewellery apprenticeships for retail, manufacture and design.
