IJL Special Awards presented at prestigious ceremony
LONDON, March 9, 2013 – International Jewellery London Special Awards were presented to outstanding jewellery designers at the Goldsmiths’ Craftsmanship & Design Awards on March 4.
An IJL Special Gold Award was presented to Natasha Bagnall of Domino in the Gold & Platinum Jewellery in Contemporary Jewellery Award category.
A Silver Award went to Beth Gilmour.
Mark Hampson, of Mark Hampson Fine Jewels, and Elizaveta Gnatchenko were commended.
For the Silver Jewellery in Contemporary Jewellery Award, winners included Anastasia Young and Irmgard Frauscher, with Silver Awards, and designers Bridget Yallup and Ornella Iannuzzi, who were both commended.
The Awards ceremony took place at the iconic Goldsmiths’ Hall in London, and IJL Event Director Sam Willoughby presented awards on behalf of IJL.
Sam Willoughby said: “The judging panel thought the award winning pieces were outstanding. At IJL, we really believe in supporting and nurturing talent. One winner, Natasha Bagnall, won a cash prize and the opportunity to showcase the winning piece at IJL this September, alongside the work of some of the other award winners – a fantastic achievement!
“The Goldsmiths’ Craftsmanship and Design awards have a real heritage, as does the IJL show, and it’s fantastic that we can work together to identify exciting designers who are creating exceptional work.”
The Award winning pieces were viewed by the high profile judging panel as being reminiscent of the exceptional quality seen at leading UK jewellery trade show IJL, where the latest collections of design-led jewellery are showcased each year.
The annual Awards are organised by the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council. Sam Willoughby is a member of the Council, alongside respected designers and industry figures.
