IJL welcomes jewellery industry to London
LONDON, August 30, 2018 – IJL, the UK’s leading jewellery trade event, opens on Sunday 2 September and will welcome a host some of the biggest names in UK jewellery design.
IJL events programme featuring designers includes:
• Uniquely UK event, Monday 3 September, 12pm @IJL: Uniquely UK, new for 2018, curated by GC&DC will feature an exhibition of inspiring signature pieces from some of the UK’s leading jewellery designers. In addition to the exhibition several of these designers, including Stephen Webster, Ornella Iannuzzi, Theo Fennell, Sarah Herriot, Leo de Vroomen, Tomasz Donocik, David Fowkes, Ute Decker and Bobby White will attend a special IJL Catwalk Show on Monday 3 September at 12.00.
• Fei Liu Jewellery will be exhibiting and Fei Liu himself will be talking at IJL about building jewellery brands in the expanding Chinese jewellery market on Monday morning. 3 September at 10am.
• Kiki McDonough will be in conversation with top jewellery blogger and influencer Katerina Perez on Monday 3 September.
Other high profile visitors to IJL include the newly-crowned Miss Universe Great Britain – Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers who has been invited by Cara Jewellers – Dubai, The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Yvonne Mosquito and Rosie Fortescue – former Made in Chelsea star, and jewellery designer.
The reimagined seminar programme, IJL Inspire, will open the stage to discuss key trends and drivers that are shaping the international jewellery and watch industry today, while offering invaluable networking opportunities to jewellery retailers and suppliers from around the world.
The IJL Inspire highlights include: explorations of current trends such as SS19; co-created and bespoke jewellery; bridal trends and self-purchasing; future-focussed sessions including reimagining the future of jewellery retail and the potential of precious metal 3D printing; practical sessions including transforming the high street store, thinking like a customer in a digital world, getting to grips with Instagram, photographing jewellery – and much more.*
IJL Catwalk trends from Paola De Luca
IJL trends editors and international jewellery futurist, Paola De Luca, will present her detail forecast for jewellery trend themes for Spring-Summer 2019 on the IJL Catwalk. Her vision includes designs rooted in urban lifestyles, the renaissance of pearls, dark romantic influences, and a blending of Art Deco and 1960s Op Art themes.
Blog Awards
The IJL Blog Awards, a brand-new initiative designed to celebrate social media influencers and their important contribution to the international jewellery industry, will reveal the shortlist and winners of the UK Social Influencer andSocial Influencer based outside of the UK at 5pm Sunday 2 September on The Catwalk Theatre.
Spotlight on Birmingham
This new feature will provide a spotlight on one UK or world jewellery hub each year. This year Spotlight on Birmingham exhibit will be opened by The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Yvonne Mosquito, on Sunday 2 September. It is a collaboration of industry, education and commerce; from the Assay Office Birmingham to the manufacturers, designers, wholesalers and retailers and will be chance to showcase the city with 1000 trades role within the jewellery industry. Work from the Birmingham School of Jewellery will be on show to demonstrate the diversity of their talent and educational reach – from horology to 3D printed jewellery.
A window on retail
Retail and customer experience will be centre stage at IJL this year with retail windows on display around the champagne bar. IJL will announce retailers and designers who will be showcasing the art of window dressing shortly. IJL will also be exploring digital retail opportunities with seminars including, “Think Like a Customer in a Digital World”.
Bridal Showcase
International Jewellery London (IJL) will be celebrating bridal jewellery and the strength of the bridal jewellery market at a special Bridal Showcase. This show floor bridal feature, sponsored by award-winning British fine jewellery manufacturer Hockley Mint, will give an insight into key bridal trends, allowing buyers to meet with leaders in the sector.
Exhibitors taking part in the Bridal Showcase include Hockley Mint, Domino, Gecko, Charles Green, Martin Guthmann, Divine Jewels and Kohinoor Jewellers. The showcase will provide an overview of the latest developments in the bridal jewellery market, alongside fresh takes on timeless classics.
IJL Live
IJL Live will launch this year – a live video stream hosted on IJL’s YouTube channel, and promoted on IJL’s social channels, featuring highlights from across the show.
