Values
The core values of work integrity, high standards, rigor and innovation define Rubel & Ménasché, in addition to a genuine delight for the natural diamond industry. “If I had to highlight what defines us above all else, I’d talk about Joy. The joy that inhabits us, the joy that animates us, that spreads through every interaction with our partners, our customers, with all of you who participate in the blossoming of our industry,” says CEO Stephan Wolzok.
History
At the end of the 1990s, former CEO Jacques Zaïcik invented kit bagging at Rubel & Ménasché. This packaging method has now become an international standard adopted by the entire industry. The Maison continued to revolutionize the market by creating new standards for small gemstones and very precise specifications for buyers. In 2006, Rubel & Ménasché created its re-cutting workshop; the only one of its kind in France. The workshop, comprised of artisans and apprentices, employs precision and expertise in meticulously selecting gemstones that best fulfill diverse requirements. Through its expertise in custom cutting, reverse engineering, and setting, the re-cutting workshop unveils the extraordinary beauty of each diamond.

“Every President who has taken over the helm of the company since it was founded in 1956 has shared the same desire to go one step further,” says Wolzok. “For almost seven decades, our strategy has remained unchanged: to offer custom made to every customer. We don’t seek immediate profitability, but rather continuous improvement. We owe our success to our enthusiasm for our craft, from pavé to fancy cuts, to the production of exceptional pieces in our diamond-cutting workshop.”

In 2010, the Maison became the fifth member of the Responsible Jewellery Council and became an active member of the World Diamond Council, distinguishing itself through an unwavering commitment to ethical practices. Since 2013, they have been recognized as an “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (EPV) [Living Heritage Company], a label awarded by the French Ministry of Culture.

Traceability
In addition to pioneering kit bagging and its exceptional recutting workshop, Rubel & Ménasché is one of few diamond dealers who offer fully traceable melee. “The traceability of mixed stones is important, as it forms an important part of the final jewel. Can we really be satisfied with responsible practices only for the main stone, while neglecting the smaller stones that accompany it?,” says Wolzok. “And it’s rare, because it’s harder to obtain; small goods, often processed in batches throughout the supply chain, require considerable effort to ensure their traceability. Unlike large stones processed individually, tracking each small stone requires sophisticated and innovative organizational systems.” The Maison is an essential link in the value chain and has a responsibility to protect the reputation of its clients.  In 2017, Rubel & Ménasché opened its own laboratory and invested in the first cutting-edge machine designed to verify the natural origin of its diamonds. This became a compulsory step for every gemstone entering the flow.

Client Relationships
Every gem sorted at Rubel & Ménasché is analyzed by two sorters, who compare their results at each stage and according to the most rigorous objective criteria: first, the color and fluorescence, and then the cut and clarity. The dimensions must also perfectly match each customer’s requirements. This is a constant guarantee that the diamantaire undertakes to provide to all its customers. Prioritizing and valuing close relationships with customers extends throughout the value chain. “Demand for perfection, finesse and precision has enabled us to achieve a high level of quality, and we are constantly striving to innovate and improve our processes,” Wolzok says.

“We forge real links throughout our value chain, and our strength lies in our ability to build bridges within our industry, facilitating the cohabitation of sometimes divergent interests to move forward together,” he says. “We are very good listeners, with a particular gift for reading between the lines. We express what our customers sometimes find hard to put into words, advising them, guiding them and relieving them by offering tailor-made solutions.”
