The inaugural edition of the Jewellery, Gem and Technology Dubai (JGT Dubai) trade show will take place from February 22-24, 2022, organised by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) and Informa Markets, and powered by partner Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC.) The event will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
It will be the first time that IEG and Informa have collaborated in organising a trade event.
“Our collaboration with IEG is unprecedented in the events industry and certainly won’t be the last,” David Bondi, Senior Vice President of Informa Markets in Asia, told a news conference to announce the launch of the show.
Corrado Peraboni, CEO of IEG SpA, organiser of the Vicenzaoro and Oroarezzo trade shows, said the event was a “unique chance to reboot after the pandemic.”
Peraboni added, “We are all united by this commitment to give companies the best opportunities that the market can provide.”
Dubai was the perfect location for this type of event, organisers said.
Some 4 billion consumers live within six hours’ flight from Dubai, a major hub for trade in gold, diamonds and gemstones, and other commodities.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC and Chairman of the Dubai Diamond Exchange, noted that the UAE had been at the vanguard of rolling out vaccines during the pandemic, and that Dubai had grown significantly as a trading hub in jewellery and gemstones over the past two decades.
