The Jewellery Show opens, focus on fashion, trends

BIRMINGHAM, England, February 6, 2011 – Attendance was high as The Jewellery Show kicked off today, featuring glamorous catwalks, a packed seminar programme and a strong focus on design innovation.

The latest trends were on show at the Pandora Catwalk Café in the centre of the exhibition hall, which features daily catwalks at 12.00, 3.00 and 5.00, showing off designs of rising brands such as Sarah Ho, Ana de Costa, Dower & Hall, and Katie Rowland.

Seminars spanning themes of interest to the trade, including “The Essential Guide to Selling Diamonds”, “Understanding eCommerce and Google”, and “Retail theatre: Bringing the shop floor to life for your customers”, also took place at regular internals at the Pandora Catwalk Café.

Leading designers including Alexander Davis, James Newman, Rachel Galley and Babette Wasserman showcased their latest lines in the Design Quarter in Hall 18 of The Jewellery Show, which takes place from February 6-10 at The Spring Fair at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) outside Birmingham in central England.

Babette Wasserman told Jewellery Outlook that she is presenting her brand new “Maman Bebe” collection which features sterling silver jewels for both mother and baby.

The Houlden Group, a buying group, is sponsoring an inaugural Designer of Excellence Award.

In Hall 17, the Italian pavilion from Campania region featured exciting Italian designers and the Hong Kong Jewellery Manufacturers’ Association gave an Eastern dimension to The Jewellery Show, which is broadening its international appeal.

The Company of Master Jewellers, a collective of retailers, will be presenting an inaugural award for best new collection during the show.
