India’s GJEPC contributes Rs. 21 Crore ($2.8 million) to PM-CARES Fund

MUMBAI, April 1, 2020India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has decided to contribute Rs. 21 Crore ($2.8 million) to the PM-CARES Fund, pledging its commitment on behalf of the gem and jewellery trade for the welfare of the nation.

“The nation is facing an unprecedented crisis and needs the service of organizations and their resources like never before,” the GJEPC said.

“In such times, the Council is stepping forward to show its solidarity and ardent support towards all the initiatives undertaken by the government of India to fight COVID-19.”

“Under the strong and able leadership of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the government of India has initiated proactively every possible measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country.”

“I am hopeful that the GJEPC’s contribution towards the PM-CARES fund can make a difference to several initiatives undertaken by the government towards the relief of COVID-19.”

The GJEPC said, “The economic situation of our country and that of several industries has taken a severe beating.”

“We have also called upon our members, trade associates, and gem and jewellery associations to come forward and donate generously to the PM-CARES Fund.”
