INHORGENTA MUNICH awards special prize to Japanese Designer
MUNICH, May 25, 2013 – At the 22nd jewelry competition ‘Revolt’ as part of the Legnica Jewellery Festival SILVER 2013, INHORGENTA MUNICH is honoring the Japanese jewelry artist Mari Ishikawa with the INHORGENTA MUNICH special award.
The designer, who lives in Munich, is being honored for her ‘Landscapes’ series and she gets the opportunity to present her work to the audience from the trade at the coming INHORGENTA MUNICH on 14 – 17 February 2014.
“The jury was particularly impressed by the artistic and technical standard of the pieces as well as the remarkable way in which Mari Ishikawa shows – through jewelry – the revolt of nature with regard to the constructions of mankind,” said Renate Wittgenstein, Product Manager of INHORGENTA MUNICH.
“These are contemporary pieces of jewelry which will really enhance the ‘Innovation Forum’ in the Contemporary Design Hall C2. We are delighted to welcome Ms. Ishikawa to INHORGENTA MUNICH 2014.”
As one of the world’s leading international trade shows for jewelry and timepieces, INHORGENTA MUNICH is honoring young silver jewelry artists with a special prize for outstanding design on what is now already the fourth occasion.
319 jewelry designers from 43 countries submitted a total of 625 art objects for the 2013 competition.
The names of the nominees were announced on 18 May 2013 as part of the ceremonial vernissage at the Gallery of Art in Legnica, Poland, the respected international meeting point for young designers.
In her work, Mari Ishikawa deals primarily with the floral forms of nature. The ‘Landscapes‘ series of jewelry in 925 sterling silver and aluminum with Japanese lacquer presents parallel worlds of architecture and nature in brooches and necklaces – a kind of ‘silent revolution’ in which nature recaptures its place again in the modern world.
The Munich-based jewelry designer is pleased about this international award. “I visit INHORGENTA MUNICH every year and I’m delighted that I can exhibit at the trade show myself next year.”
Mari Ishikawa, born in 1964, already has a high reputation internationally in the area of contemporary design.
Her work is exhibited in some of the most important art museums worldwide including the Palazzo Pitti in Florence and Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich as well as numerous other museums in the USA, Japan, France and Germany.
