Inhorgenta Munich opens its doors, focuses on innovation
MUNICH, Germany, February, 2016 – Inhorgenta Munich opened its doors on Feb. 12, 2016, with a focus on innovation and creating a comfortable environment for doing business, against a backdrop of growing jewellery and watch sales in Germany.
Innovation, Inspiration and Individuality were the key themes of the show, Klaus Dittrich, President and CEO of Munich trade fair (Messe Munchen), organiser of Inhorgenta, said at a news conference on the opening day.
In terms of Innovation, seminars at Inhorgenta this year focused on how to harness social media to boost sales in the jewellery and watches sector.
Inspiration referred to the startling new creations from jewellery and watch companies exhibiting at the show.
Watch companies such as Junghans, Casio and Ebel, showcased their latest watch collections at Inhorgenta, such as Junghans’ Meister Driver, inspired by magnificent classic cars. A splendid Maybach Zeppelin vintage car stood in the midst of the Junghans stand.
Several brands, including Daniel Wellington, Henry London and Yoko London, were exhibiting for the first time at Inhorgenta this year.
Individuality was a reference to the extraordinary creative skills of up-and-coming jewellery designers, presenting their latest pieces in Hall C2.
Footfall was strong on the first day of the show, which took place against the backdrop of a resilient German market for watches and jewellery.
Dittrich said the organisers of Inhorgenta had worked hard to create an appealing environment at the show in which to place orders.
B1, the fine jewellery hall, was attractively adorned in shades of warm gold and bronze, creating a glamorous and relaxed ambiance.
Stephan Lindner, who heads Germany’s Jewellery and Watches business federation, said watches sales had risen by 6 percent year-on-year in Germany in 2015, and jewellery sales were up 0.5 percent.
The weakening of the euro after the Swiss unpegged their franc from the European single currency, was likely to create a tougher environment for retail sales of Swiss watches in Germany in 2016.
