Inhorgenta seminars take a close look at colour gems and pearls
MUNICH, Germany, February 19, 2017 – Inhorgenta´s Seminar Programme in 2017 included some fascinating insights into the worlds of colour gemstones and pearls, including a talk by celebrated gem expert Joanna Hardy looking at the history of gems.

Hardy, who appears regularly on Britain’s Antiques Road Show, a BBC TV Programme, spoke about the colour gems worn by royalty over the ages, major gem discoveries, sentimental jewels of the Georgian period, Art Nouveau and Art Deco gemstone jewellery, and highlighted some 20th Century jewellery masterpieces.
She also spoke of outstanding contemporary jewellery designs from Michelle Ong, Wallace Chan, and Amy Burton.
Gem explorer Yianni Melas talked about his adventures seeking out gems in some of the world’s most isolated places, such as deep in the interior of Madagascar and Myanmar, and spoke about uncovering a new gem, Aquaprase.
Inhorgenta´s Seminar Programme also included a talk about pearl jewellery design by UK-based designer Melanie Georgacopoulos, who uses mainly freshwater pearls in her state-of-the-art contemporary designs.

Jeremy Shepherd of PearlParadise.com spoke of the challenges of selling pearls online to Millennial consumers, and the need to fight off a staid Image of pearl jewellery associated with inheriting a string of traditional pearls from Grandmother.
