What variety of goods will be on offer at the September edition of MFJ?

The September edition promises to be one of the most important events in the fashion and jewellery sector, with a special focus on accessories, apparel and jewellery. With over 600 participating brands, 48% of which come from abroad, the event stands out for the richness and quality of the collections presented. It will be an unmissable opportunity to discover the creations of renowned brands, innovative start-ups, and emerging designers, all ready to present their proposals for the Fall/Winter 2024 season, as well as some anticipations for Spring/Summer 2025.

Of particular note is the ‘Exploring Sustainable Fashion’ area, curated by Guya Manzoni and Marina Savarese of Sfashion-net. This section will showcase 11 sustainable fashion brands from small and medium-sized Italian artisan enterprises. Highlighting the importance of a responsible and conscious approach to contemporary fashion, the selected brands will present innovative fashion projects that embody the principles of slow fashion.

No less fascinating will be the “Jewels for Fashion” area, dedicated to jewellery created by the “maisons” for the stylists. This section will represent a fusion of manufacturing quality and heritage, telling the story of the synergy between fashion and high-end jewellery, offering visitors a unique experience in the world of luxury jewellery.

This edition is therefore confirmed as an important showcase for innovation and sustainability in the fashion industry, while celebrating tradition and craftsmanship.

  • Innovation and trends: Milano is one of the fashion and design capitals. Therefore, the fair is a privileged place to discover new and emerging trends. Buyers can anticipate market demands and adapt their offers accordingly.
  • Access to emerging brands and independent designers: MFJ offers the opportunity to meet emerging brands and independent designers, who can bring freshness and originality to the shops. This is an advantage for buyers looking for unique products to propose to their customers.

Can you highlight some special features of the September edition?

From my point of view there are three special features of the upcoming event: the different thematic areas, the simultaneous presence of international events in the same fairground and the “craftsmanship” intelligence.

From the September edition, MFJ will be divided into different thematic areas dedicated to the fashion and jewellery industries, each offering unique and innovative proposals.

HALL. 6 – Jewellery. This hall focuses on three specific areas of jewellery and distinguishes them from Jewels “for fashion”, pieces that are often exclusive and designed to complement haute couture collections; “Fashion jewels”, pieces in which the “Maison”’ production is oriented to the expectations and needs of consumers, offering jewellery that is affordable while retaining a high aesthetic and design value. And finally, Contemporary Jewels, which presents unique pieces or micro-series by national and international designers, with a particular focus on distinctive materials and shapes.

HALL. 10 – Fashion accessories and apparel.  This area offers a wide range of fashion accessories and clothing. There are two main categories:

Ready To Wear: Ready-to-wear collections for the Autumn/Winter season. Preview Collection: Collections planned for the Spring/Summer 2025 season, anticipating future trends and offering a preview of what’s to come.

HALL. 7 – F&J Delivery Hall 7 focuses on international and comprehensive offerings.  Here we will find a wide range of articles, with an assortment of precious and semi-precious stones specifically for these productions.

In addition, this edition will see the presence of THEONEMILANO BY MFJ with the participation of the China National Garment Association, the only Chinese governmental association dedicated to garments, guaranteeing a significant representation of the Chinese market in the fashion sector.

The co-location of MICAM Milano and MIPEL from Sunday to Tuesday, together with the invitation-only preview of Milano Fashion & Jewellery (MFJ) on Saturday, offers an exceptional opportunity for the sector. The partial overlap with LINEAPELLE and SIMAC TECH in the Exhibition Centre further enhances the experience, allowing visitors to get a global view of the latest trends in fashion and accessories.

The focus on craftsmanship is a central aspect of these events, highlighting the ‘creative genius’ of  craftspeople, capable of creating unique products that tell personal stories and express the identity of their creator. A tangible example of this approach will be the live workshop at Galleria Rossini, which will teach the lost wax casting technique for creating jewellery, demonstrating how craftsmanship can combine tradition and innovation.

What will be the main exhibitions and panel discussions?

Milano Fashion&Jewels confirms its role as an important cultural observatory in the world of fashion and design, presenting two project areas in collaboration with Poli.Design.

The first area, VISIONAIRES, in the “for fashion” version, bringing together over 70 creations by designers who have worked closely with creative directors and fashion stylists, highlighting their talent at the service of the fashion industry.

The second area, DESIGN DIRECTIONS, will act as a multimedia space to outline the future directions in fashion jewellery and accessories, focusing on two macro-trends for the next two years: BeautyPure, which emphasizes beauty in its simplest and most authentic form, and AdoraBold, which celebrates boldness and originality.

In addition to these areas, a packed calendar of events will enrich the show, including talks, workshops and master classes.

These events will be dedicated to discussion and debate on key topics for the community, providing useful tools for growth and innovation. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss a range of topics from social platforms to new marketing strategies, including leading figures from the web and the armoury. In particular, a Master Class will focus on the key trends in jewellery and fashion accessories for Autumn/Winter 2024, providing valuable insights for professionals and enthusiasts in the sector.
