Vicenzaoro January (VOJ22), running from January 21-26 in the Vicenza exhibition grounds in northeast Italy, the first major in-person jewellery, watches and machinery show in Europe of 2022, will be a “must-attend” event for international buyers, Event Director Marco Carniello tells Jewellery Outlook Editor David Brough.

It will be an opportunity to restock after the festive season, and to network and develop contacts in a pleasant atmosphere in elegant surroundings to pave the way for tangible business dealings in the months ahead.

“Vicenzaoro is well appreciated for showcasing the most beautiful jewellery design and the excellence of manufacturing, technological know-how and cutting-edge innovations,” Marco says.

The “All At Once” event is a “one-stop shop” for the international trade.

Marco, what is the significance of Vicenzaoro January 2022 on the global jewellery trade events calendar?

Marco Carniello: The January edition of Vicenzaoro will be Europe’s first big in-person event of the sector and will finally allow a much- and long-awaited chance to build relations among the protagonists of the entire supply chain on an international basis.

From the best-known brands of the ICON community to semi-finished products, from precious stones and processing technologies to packaging, from yesterday’s and today’s watches to vintage jewellery.

And this will happen thanks to the staging of T.GOLD (21-26 January), an international show for jewellery machinery and the most innovative technologies applied to gold and jewellery processing, and VO Vintage  (22 – 24 January), an exclusive showcase – open to the public – of vintage watches and jewellery, which is aimed at timepiece lovers.

Who should visit? Why is this a “must-attend” event for buyers?

Marco Carniello: The September edition which took place in 2021, one of the very few in-person international event in the sector in Europe, saw an overwhelming enthusiasm from all the participants, exhibiting companies, buyers and visitors, who confirmed the need for a physical moment to meet and reconnect personal relationships, admire the jewels “live” by touching them, place orders, and set strategic plans for the following months.

In January, this enthusiasm will certainly translate into even more concrete business opportunities, thanks to the overall organization set up by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), but also to a more favourable trading backdrop.

We are seeing an excellent response from companies that wish to participate, and from international buyers coming from countries that are finally recovering and permitting once again international travel.

So we are ready to welcome all the stakeholders of the industry: from manufacturing to distribution, technical providers and retailers, media and opinion leaders, experts, trend setters, designers and vintage lovers.

What is distinctive about the offering and the product range that will be on show?

Marco Carniello: Vicenzaoro is well appreciated for showcasing the most beautiful jewellery design and the excellence of manufacturing, technological know-how and cutting-edge innovations.

“Made in Italy” jewellery and goldsmithing will be well represented since Italian style pieces are among the most well-known and desired worldwide.

But we will also have international exhibitors who choose our show to meet buyers in Europe and top consumer markets, but also providers and experts, and to attend the panels to be aware and take part in the discussions about trending topics.

The show is marketing itself as “All At Once”. Please explain?

Marco Carniello: The moniker chosen for the January edition of the show highlights its function as a dynamic platform that optimises purchasing trails, facilitates cross-selling, reveals the latest trends and innovations and helps expand networking: everything will converge in one business space and at one pace.

From profession to passion, every single player along the supply chain will have the opportunity to find answers to the entire industry’s supply and demand needs – all in one place.

What is the significance and range of products offered by the Machinery segment, T.GOLD, in January?

Marco Carniello: T.GOLD will offer a complete overview of the latest concepts and technologies that producers may adopt to qualitatively implement their jewellery production and processing.

The exhibition will showcase innovations in six macro-category divisions: preparation of alloys, galvanic treatments; digital prototyping and production; mechanical machinings, grindings, laser cut; assembly and welding; refining and recovery of production waste; finishing, polishing and enamels.

T.GOLD is a meeting point for innovators, companies and suppliers of advanced technologies thanks to the partnership with AFEMO (Italian Association of Jewellery Machinery Manufacturers and Exporters).

VO and T.Gold will host the third edition of the “StartUp and Carats” initiative, organized by IEG and ITA, the Italian Trade Agency, supporting the business development of Italian companies abroad and promoting foreign investment in Italy: an exhibition and informative area entirely dedicated to the world of Start-ups and SMEs.

The Vintage area returns in January. What kinds of goods will be offered, and who should visit Vintage?

Marco Carniello: VOVintage will focus on high-range vintage world, a sector that is expected to grow constantly from now to 2025, with watch sales in the pre-owned market estimated at between 29 and 32 billion US dollars.

The show, which is open to the public, also offers a trip into the wonderful world of jewellery that has become iconic with time.

It will be a moment of exchange, a meeting place and for sharing a passion that inspires a growing number of timepiece lovers who will have an exclusive opportunity to find unique pieces that created a luxury dimension in the past, as well as gathering top experts from the sector.

IEG confirms that this segment of the show will proceed in its third edition: it will take place in the foyer on the first floor of the Vicenza Expo Centre in an exclusive and restricted context, as a guarantee of exhibitor and visitor privacy and safety.

Furthermore, it will offer a full range of talks, workshops and technical training for business operators as well as collectors.

What are some highlights of the the planned talks and discussion panels at Vicenzaoro January?

Marco Carniello: The talks and seminars programme will host the leading players, experts and trend setters, giving market highlights and overviews on the hot topics of the industry, in order to enhance competitiveness among the industry and give the professionals attending useful tools and figures to plan future activities and exploit all market opportunities.

The agenda will include topics such as sustainability, design and consumer trends, technology and innovation, best practices and case histories, digitalization and training.
