INTERVIEW – Vicenzaoro January will be a showcase for trends in the new season


Vicenzaoro January, the first top international jewellery and gemstones, machinery, watches and accessories trade fair of 2023, taking place from January 20-24, has been branded “Discover More”, reflecting its importance as a showcase for trends and design directions in the new season, Marco Carniello, Group Exhibition Director Vicenzaoro – IEG, tells Jewellery Outlook Editor David Brough.

Marco, the planned January edition of Vicenzaoro uses the branding “Discover More”. What does this mean?

“Discover More” is an invitation to explore the design and market trends that will influence the new season, thus will be at the heart of Vicenzaoro January. The show is recognized among international fairs for its role as a “trendsetter”, thanks also to the contribution of Made in Italy renowned creativity and know-how. But most of all, because it has established itself as a pivotal hub for world jewellery trade: not only for business opportunities and trends inspiration, but also as a cultural and networking hub.

Vicenzaoro is a “not to miss” event for the professional community that needs to stay open to innovation and experimentation and always “discover more”.


What will the show offer? What variety of goods will be available?

Thanks to the concept of the “Jewellery Boutique Show”, Vicenzaoro January is the only B2B event representing the best expressions of the sector along the entire value chain. With over 1,300 exhibiting brands, buyers and visitors will find high-end and gold jewellery, all of Made in Italy production from the main national manufacturing districts and product previews from the leading international companies, components and semi-finished products, diamonds, precious and coloured stones as well as services, visual merchandising and packaging. T.GOLD, number one international showcase for innovation, held concurrently, is showcasing the most advanced technologies for production and processing.

The contemporary watchmaking supply chain is debuting thanks to the new TIME community, while vintage watches and jewellery are staged at the fourth edition of the VO Vintage B2C market place.

T.GOLD is the most important international exhibition of advanced technologies for the jewellery industry and is back with an expanded offering: +10% exhibition space to host even more top jewellery industry players and showcase an even larger range of technologies.

Over the 5 days of the exhibition, held in Hall 9 (a free shuttle service connects the hall at VO main venues and takes only a few minutes), buyers will be able to review innovations in six macro-categories: casting, mechanical processing, digital prototyping and production, finishing, refining and recovery, bench tools and materials. What and when is VO Vintage? What kind of goods will be presented? Who should attend? What are your plans to develop VO Vintage?

The fourth edition of VO Vintage, Vicenzaoro’s marketplace for fine vintage watches and jewellery, will be staged from Friday 20th to Monday 23rd January (one day more than previous editions) in an exclusive and reserved area of the Vicenza Expo Centre, Hall 8.1, on the first floor of the main entrance hall.

The event is open to the public and, of course, to professional visitors attending Vicenzaoro: they will not only be able to purchase unique and valuable pieces, but also negotiate with the best dealers, keep up to date with experts on sector topics and trends, and take part in a fairly packed program of technical training, seminars and interviews.

IEG’s format is becoming increasingly popular among watch lovers, timepiece collectors and vintage jewellery enthusiasts as it offers opportunities to deep dive into watchmaking trends and culture.

On the one hand, we expect this show to increase the number of international exhibitors, on the other, to intensify its level of experience, becoming more and more attractive to younger generations of collectors and implement interaction within its community.
