Italian jewellery exports rise by value, VICENZAORO fair says

VICENZA, Italy, September 8, 2012 – Italian jewellery exports rose by 2.3 percent in terms of value between January and April 2012, compared to the same year-ago period, VICENZAORO Fall trade fair said.
In volume terms, the quantity fell 3.2 percent between January and April 2012, compared to the same period in the previous year.

The main destinations for Italian jewellery exports in terms of value, were Switzerland (363.0 million euros, representing 22 percent of the total), the United Arab Emirates (236.7 million euros, or 14.3 percent of the total), and the United States (142.2 million euros, or 8.6 percent of the total.)
“Exports to China showed a considerable increase (+28.1 percent), placing it in fifth position on the Italian jewellery export chart,” VICENZAORO said in a statement released at the start of the trade fair, which runs from September 8-12, 2012.
“Exports to the United Arab Emirates and the United States showed a drop, while those to India were still very weak. Exports to Russia showed an increase of 6.2 percent.”
