Jewellery & Watch Birmingham unveils new theme for this year’s show
BIRMINGHAM, England, January 28, 2014 – Jewellery & Watch Birmingham (Feb. 2-6, 2014) has revealed that “The Story Behind the Brand” will be the theme of this year’s show.
This is the first time Jewellery & Watch Birmingham has had a theme, something which it plans to continue at future shows with every show being assigned a different theme.
According to Jewellery & Watch Birmingham’s Portfolio Director Julie Driscoll, this year’s theme is all about designers and jewellery makers using the show to tell the stories behind their brands and the inspiration behind their collections, then passing this information on to buyers who in turn can then use this information to educate their customers.
“Jewellery is a really personal purchase and for this reason it is really important for the customer to understand where it has come from,” said Driscoll. “People don’t just buy a piece of jewellery but they buy into the story behind that jewellery.”
Contemporary jewellery designer Rachel Galley has shared the story behind her brand at this year’s show, which takes place at Birmingham NEC.
Galley’s Enkai Sun Collection, which takes its inspiration from Masai women whom she met on a family holiday to Tanzania, was selected by Jewellery & Watch Birmingham to feature as the ‘hero’ image across all of this year’s marketing campaigns for the show.
Elements of the collection will also be brought to life onsite at Birmingham’s NEC as it will be integrated into the interior design features of the show.
In addition to Rachel Galley, there are many, many other jewellery designers and brands exhibiting at this year’s show which boast incredible stories behind their brands.
Acclaimed designer Fei Liu is returning to Jewellery & Watch Birmingham this year, after several years’ absence, to present several collections including Cascade and Peony, the complete silver collections, as well as the new silver Star Sign collection and two new gold collections.
Natasha Leith-Smith founder and designer of jewellery brand Allumer London will be bringing all of her collections to Jewellery & Watch Birmingham, including a new men’s range.
Leith-Smith has an interesting story behind her brand, having started out just making jewellery for friends and then, following demand, going on to establish Allumer London.
Also at this year’s event, jewellery designer Mark Milton will be launching his own Mark Milton brand, a totally new retail offer comprising tried and tested lines as well as newly developed designs with an emphasis on gold and 18ct vermeil. The 125 piece range is inspired by the intricacies of the jewellery making process.
Fei Liu, Rachel Galley, Mark Milton and Allumer London are just some of the names joining almost 400 top jewellery and watch brands exhibiting their collections at the event.
Other names include Babette Wasserman, Bering Time, CARAT* London, Charmian Beaton Design, Clogau Gold, Kissing Diamonds, Dryberg Kern, Fable Jewels, Gecko, Hot Diamonds, Lars Larsen Watches, Missoma, Pandora Jewellery, Source Watches, Storm of London, Condor and Tresor Paris.
