The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), has acquired The Enchanted Ania brooch created by Europe-based Asian high jewellery artist Anna Hu.

Designed to mimic an orchid gently swaying in the wind, the brooch will be on view in the exhibition Beyond Brilliance: Jewelry Highlights from the Collection in the Kaplan Jewelry Gallery when it reopens following a renovation on May 18, 2024.

Beyond Brilliance: Jewelry Highlights from the Collection champions the great depth and breadth of the MFA’s world-renowned jewelry collection, with ornaments crafted over 4,000 years and reflecting global cultures.

The installation features more than 150 objects—each with a unique story to tell. The gallery spotlights ancient artifacts, fine jewelry, costume jewelry and jewelry by contemporary artists, in addition to new acquisitions that have never before been on view at the MFA.

“I am thrilled to add Anna Hu’s work to the collection and feature it in the gallery. The large scale brooch follows a thread of naturalism in jewellery that extends back thousands of years, yet the scale and use of new materials is unlike anything made before,” said Emily Stoehrer, Rita J. Kaplan and Susan B. Kaplan Curator of Jewellery at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
