Jewellery in 2021 will be natural, explicit, neoclassical

The Trend Book 2021+ will be launched at the September 2019 edition of VicenzaOro. These are the trends that will be unveiled by Trendvision Jewellery + Forecasting, the first independent IEG Observatory specialising in forecasting in the jewellery world.

In a situation of strong activism in the world of art and design, and thus also of jewellery, three main trends are outlined:

1.    RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND REDEFINITION OF NATURE
2.    SPEAKING UP
3.    HISTORICISM

1.    RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND REDEFINITION OF NATURE

There is an exaltation of naked nature and the use of coloured metals (blue gold, green gold, and so on) often in combination with stones featuring tone-on-tone effects – metal – stones.

The trend of nature is often outlined, crafted in the laboratory with the application of biotechnology in the area of jewellery.

Deconstructivism and the renaissance of Bauhaus are also trends that lead to a
“disruption ” of the shapes, along with the re-engineering of the shapes themselves. This deals with the recovery of round or oval geometric elements with soft and soft lines, recalling the concept of the pursuit of well-being. Light pastel colours also predominate.

2.    SPEAKING UP

Ideograms, writings and initials are the basis of the second trend. There is an uptake of writings that also convey explicit and strong messages.

3.    HISTORICISM

The reinterpretation of distinctive elements from classical culture and from the divine world lies at the core of the third trend, which also embraces other sectors, from design to architecture.

This trend stems from the desire to recover historical roots — craftsmanship, a “return to the origins” of classical culture, to beauty. This trend results in a return to cameo, coins, bas-reliefs, and enamel techniques. This strong desire for beauty also translates into the recovery of elements of exotic inspiration.
