Eleven jewels owned by Dame Joan Collins are to be offered at Bonhams Knightsbridge Jewels sale on 9 June in London. Amongst the impressive collection is a turquoise and gold necklace given to her by Warren Beatty, then her fiancé, when he landed the lead in the film Splendor in the Grass. The necklace has an estimate of £2,000-3,000. The collection has a total estimate of £20,000-28,000.
Speaking in the Summer issue of Bonhams Magazine, Dame Joan Collins said: “I do buy jewellery for myself as a reward. It’s something I highly recommend. I think more women should do it…I do hope my jewels in the sale will inspire women. Now we are edging into a more normal life, aren’t we all looking forward to putting on a fabulous frock, piling on jewellery and plunging into the fray?”
Carole Gordon, Head of Jewellery, Knightsbridge, said: “Dame Joan Collins is known for her Hollywood glamour, as well as her enthralling stories. In her jewellery we find both – with each piece representing a memory as well as expressing her exquisite taste. It is always wonderful to be able to offer such superb pieces from such a legendary star.”
