LONDON – Bonhams global jewellery department has achieved its most successful year to date for the first half of 2023, holding 40 dedicated jewellery sales globally in the first half compared to 24 for the same period in 2022, a 40% increase.
Bonhams retains its position as market leader in the UK, being No 1 in jewellery in the UK for the past 13 years.

“With an increase in registrations for our sales in 2023 of 39%, we have seen success at all price points from £500 to multimillion figures. With the 40% growth in auctions both online and live and with the addition of The Weekly: Jewelry, Bonhams Jewellery has successfully broadened the scope and offering to our clientele.”
The jewellery results build on Bonhams overall success. This month the company
announced 32% growth in 2023 with global sales achieving more than $550,000,000 from
January to June 2023, the best-ever results for the first half of the year in the company’s
history.
A platinum, fancy intense yellow diamond and diamond ring, sold for US$184,650.
Cartier platinum, diamond, and emerald ring sold for US$91,940.

➢ New launches: The Weekly: Jewelry was introduced in LA in 2022, and the concept
is to be extended in 2023 to other territories. The Weekly: Jewelry offers over 100
items of everyday jewels online on a weekly basis with estimates from $500-$1,500.
2023 notable jewellery sales:
➢ Bonhams’ The Perfect Jewelry Box: Jewels from an Impressive Southern California
Collection achieved exceptional results on March 8 in New York. It was a ‘White
Glove Sale’ with 100% sold, and the top lot was a magnificent 35.00 carat LEVIEV
emerald-cut, type IIa, D color ring, which sold for $2,700,375.
➢ Bonhams New York Jewels, May 23 saw a Fancy Pink 6.22 carat diamond ring
achieve US$1.2 million.
➢ Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr, Paris Jewels sale, May 24, saw a 1910 diamond
tiara necklace, attributed to Chaumet, achieved double its pre-sale estimate selling
for €279,800.
➢ Bonhams New York Jewels, May 23 saw a Fancy Yellow 10.61 carat diamond ring,
sold for four times its estimate at US$242,000.
Heading into the second half of the year, Bonhams jewellery is showing strong results with
yesterday’s California Jewels sale:
LOS ANGELES – a platinum, fancy intense yellow diamond and diamond ring weighing 9.70
carats, stole the show at the Bonhams California Jewels sale on July 18, achieving
US$184,650, surpassing its top estimate by double. Another notable lot was a Cartier
platinum, diamond, and emerald ring. The ring with a rectangular step cut natural
diamond of H color and VS2 clarity, weighing approximately 3.89 carats, accented by
tapered baguette emeralds, achieved US$91,940.
The 321-lot sale made a total of US$1,884,580 with 89% sold by lot and 100% sold by
value.
