Indo-China diamond meeting to take place Nov 28-30

MUMBAI, November 26, 2011 – The Indo-China Diamond Buyer Seller meeting will take place with support from the Shanghai Diamond Exhange, in Beijing from November 28-30.
The meeting was organized by India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) to develop commercial ties by Indian gem and jewellery exporters to China.
“The fifth consecutive edition will see India’s leading 28 companies interact with manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers of China to develop a better mutual understanding of business and form new sourcing relationships,” the GJEPC said.
Such meetings are aimed to bring China, an efficient jewellery manufacturer, and India, a leading diamond processor, closer together with the aim of boosting their global market share by building on each other’s strengths.
“This initiative of the GJEPC hopes to fuel exports and facilitate enhanced trade opportunities and business transactions between the two countries,” the GJEPC said.
Since 2007, these buyer seller meetings have been instrumental in introducing at least 50 Indian diamond manufacturers having expertise in manufacturing fancy shapes and sizes to establish partnerships with jewellery manufacturers from mainland China.
“India, the key centre for readily available raw materials — cut and polished diamonds, polished colored gemstones & metals — is today surging forward to create Brand India,” said Rajiv Jain, Chairman of the GJEPC.
“Of the total gem and jewellery exports of US$ 43 billion by India, 23 percent is exported to Hong Kong, thereby signifying the importance of robust trading relations between India & China.”
