Green Street jewellers announce launch of “Discover Jewellery” Magazine
LONDON, March 17, 2010 – Green Street jewellers in east London will announce the planned launch of the “Discover Jewellery” magazine later this week.
The magazine, which will be launched to coincide with London Jewellery Week in June 2010, is the first jewellery magazine published by South Asian jewellers in east London.
The Green Street Jewellers’ Association (GSJA), which is publishing the magazine, groups British-Asian retail jewellers on Green Street in Newham, east London, who are branding themselves ahead of the 2012 London Olympics.
The magazine, whose launch will be announced at the Newham Business Forum at West Ham football ground on Thursday evening, will help Newham authorities achieve their goal of creating more jobs for local people, said Jayant Raniga, a spokesman for the GSJA.
“Our magazine is about changing the public perception about jewellery in Green Street. We want people to see that our products are cutting-edge. We’re promoting British design.”
The magazine will help establish Green Street as a jewellery quarter and will ultimately lead to more job opportunities for local people in design, craftsmanship, sales and other areas.
The “Discover Jewellery” magazine will contain articles about 15 retail jewellers on Green Street, as well as an article on the “Bridal Walk”, a guide to the area’s jewellers.
The publication will also feature educational articles on the jewellery making process, with contributions from leading industry bodies, such as Platinum Guild International, the World Gold Council, the Gemmological Institute of America and the London Assay Office.
“Discover Jewellery” will also include an article from India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), looking at how diamonds are processed in India.
“Discover Jewellery” will be published twice a year and will have a free distribution of 60,000 copies across Canary Wharf and residential districts in West Essex, and will appear as a supplement in Asian bridal magazines.
The magazine has attracted strong interest from advertisers from among leading luxury brands.
