Magazine editor is IJL Bright Young Gems panellist
LONDON, April 28, 2010 – Jessica Diamond, the Watches and Jewellery Editor at Wallpaper* magazine, is the latest panellist to join the line-up of industry leaders for Bright Young Gems, an initiative to recognise some of the best up and coming jewellery designers in the UK.
The Bright Young Gems are nominated by an independent panel of fashion and lifestyle editors, for International Jewellery London, a leading UK trade show.
The brief for selection pinpoints innovative jewellery designers who ‘dare to be different’ and whose work has the potential to challenge current perceptions of leading British design.
The flagship project offers the Bright Young Gems the chance to break into the commercial world and meet retailers at the IJL Show in September.
Jessica Diamond, who has previously worked at Vogue, is in an ideal position to identify the best new talent.
She joined Wallpaper* magazine as Managing Editor in 2003, before being appointed Watches & Jewellery Editor in 2007.
“I was delighted to be asked to be a panellist for this year’s Bright Young Gems awards,” she said.
“At Wallpaper* we’re always seeking out new talent in all fields of design, particularly as we showcase them in our annual Graduate Directory, and with my own personal love of jewellery the invitation to be a part of this process was too good an opportunity to turn down.”
Jessica Diamond will join the existing panellists – Hilary Alexander of the Daily Telegraph, Vivienne Becker of the Financial Times’ How To Spend It and Claudia Mahoney of Glamour magazine.
Astley Clarke’s Bec Clarke also presents the discretionary Astley Clarke IJL Bright Young Gems Gold Award to one outstanding designer who wins the opportunity for their jewellery to be sold through the retailer (www.astleyclarke.com).
