Special Award presented by IJL

IJL

LONDON, March 17, 2011 – The IJL Special Award in Fine Jewellery was presented to Stan Somerford for the George Pragnell Hummingbird ring at the Goldsmiths’ Craftsmanship & Design Awards, which took place at the Goldsmiths’ Hall on March 7.

The winning ring was made using 18ct white and rose gold and includes diamonds, sapphires and rubies.
The piece was viewed by the high profile judging panel as being reminiscent of the excellent quality seen at leading UK jewellery trade show IJL, where the latest collections of design-led jewellery are showcased each year.

The annual Awards are organised by the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council with the aim to recognise the best craftsmanship in the jewellery industry.

“The judging panel thought the piece was outstanding,” said IJL Event Director Sam Willoughby, a member of the Council, who presented the award.
“At IJL, we really believe in supporting and nurturing talent, and the winning piece will be showcased at the show this September, alongside the work of some of the other award winners.” www.pragnell.co.uk
