LONDON, June 7, 2010 – Leading UK jewellery designers helped launch the third edition of London Jewellery Week at a cocktail party held at Goldsmiths’ Hall today.

London Jewellery Week, which runs from June 7-13, is a showcase to celebrate the talents of Britain’s jewellers, craftsmen and designers.

“London Jewellery Week should end up, we hope, like a London Fashion Week for the London jewellery industry,” David Marshall, a top London jewellery designer based in the Hatton Garden diamond jewellery district in London, told Jewellery Outlook at the event.

Marshall had a stand displaying his diamond-encrusted Feather Collection which he sells mainly privately, with price points ranging up to in excess of 15,000 pounds.

Shaun Leane, who was the UK’s jewellery designer of the year in 2009, said, “London Jewellery Week highlights the creativity of London as a centre for jewellery.”

Dozens of events will take place around the capital this week to highlight the creativity and skills of London jewellery designers, craftsmen and jewellers, raising their profiles in both the domestic and international markets.

Sarah Ho, who won the award for best young UK designer at the Italian Jewellery Awards 2009, said she was confident that London Jewellery Week would boost her presence in international markets.

“It’s very good for our profile. We’re still a very young brand,” Ho said.
Her brand, SHO fine jewellery, will be active throughout London Jewellery Week and will be featured later this week on the QVC television channel.
