LONDON, July 18, 2010 – Mattia Cielo won Italian Jewellery Designer of the Year at the UK Jewellery Awards 2010.
This year Massimiliano Bonoli, Creative Director and Designer of the brand Mattia Cielo, presented to the jury a few pieces from the 2010 collections by Mattia Cielo – Ghiaccio (Ice), Iguana and Pavone (Peacock).
Each piece combines the goldsmith tradition with skillful industrial design and the use of new materials.
“In the application of the industrial design to jewellery, I aim to modify production processes to go beyond the limits set by traditional techniques,” Max said.
“In the Ghiaccio (Ice) collection we have used titanium to combine eccentric shapes with lightness, while Pavone (Peacock) and Iguana have the softness to melt into the body wrapping round it like a glove.”
