LONDON, July 20, 2009 – Platinum jewellery was a big hit with the judges at the 2009 UK Jewellery Awards at The Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
Platinum jewellery designers and retailers won awards in Independent Retailer of the Year and Multiple Retailer of the Year categories at the event staged on July 16.
James Courage, CEO of Platinum Guild international (PGI), and Ruth Donaldson, UK Manager of PGI, hosted tables of VIPs including PGI recommended platinum retailers, designers and PGI Sponsor Anglo Platinum Ltd.
The winner of the Platinum Bridal Jewellery Collection of the Year award, presented by Ruth Donaldson, was Simon Pure Design.
Having collected the award, Steve Parsons said, “Winning this has come as a complete surprise to us all, especially with such tough competition. We are over the moon that our work has been recognised for this prestigious category.”
The award for Independent Retailer of the Year went to Nicholas James, one of PGI’s first Platinum Recommended Retailers.
Commenting on the support received from PGI UK, Nick Fitch of Nicholas James said, “We’ve always pushed our platinum in-store but have enhanced promotion recently through working with PGI on platinum targeted projects.”
The platinum bridal jewellery market has remained strong, despite the economic climate. Perceived as the best precious metal, for the best relationships, couples invest in their platinum bridal jewellery, viewing it as an investment in their future.
