April 7, 2010 – Sotheby’s achieved its highest total for a Various Owners sale of Watches in Hong Kong today, netting a total of US $6.9 million.
“Pre-sale interest was high, and the demand from both Asian and international clients pushed our telephone bidding to capacity,”said Vanessa Herrera, Head of Watches at Sotheby’s Hong Kong.
The top sale was a Patek Philippe, platinum and diamond-set split seconds chronograph perpetual calendar wrist watch, which sold to an Asian private buyer for US $279,487.
The second highest sale was a Patek Philippe, “Celestial”, 18k white gold astronomical wrist watch with sky chart, which sold to a European private buyer for US $271,795.
The top 10 sales by value included six Patek Philippe watches.
