REC Watches selects Jewellery & Watch London for UK launch
LONDON, June 5, 2014 – Danish watch manufacturer REC Watches has chosen Jewellery & Watch London as the platform to make its UK debut.
Distributed in the UK by Since 1853 Ltd, REC Watches is a completely new and independent Danish watch manufacturer, which focuses on using forgotten classics and recycling these into watch components.
Founded in early 2014 in Copenhagen by Christian Mygh and Jonathan Kamstrup, REC Watches are made by recycling old out-of-use iconic objects. As such, every REC Watch has a distinct story to tell through its components’ previous life.
The Cooper Collection, for example, is influenced by the distinctive bonnet stripes of the Mini Cooper and features dials made out of recycled Mini Cooper metal. Each watch has the serial number of the Mini that the watch is made from engraved on its case back.
Commenting on the decision to launch REC Watches in the UK at Jewellery & Watch London John Carmichael of distributor Since 1853 Ltd said: “Jewellery & Watch London will provide us with a unique opportunity to launch the brand not only to those looking to buy watches, but also to introduce REC Watches to other jewellery retailers who may not necessarily be in the market for watches – but who may like what they see and decide they want to stock REC Watches.”
REC Watches will join a whole host of top watch brands at Jewellery & Watch London at the Saatchi Gallery on June 18-19. Other Danish watch brands set to showcase their new collections at the event include Larsen Watches as well as BERING, who are also the headline sponsors of the inaugural BERING Buyers Power List event taking place on Wednesday June 18.
The BERING Buyers Power List aims to recognise, celebrate and reward the individuals and companies that suppliers and peers in the jewellery and watch industry have nominated and voted for as making an outstanding difference and being highly influential in the jewellery and watch market.
Joining REC Watches in making their Jewellery & Watch London show debut, US watch brand Philip Stein will be exhibiting its latest collection of men’s and women’s timepieces.
Other key watch brands at the show this year include pre-owned watch supplier BQ Watches, Swiss brands Jowissa watches and Adriatica, Italian brands Strumento Marino, Be Pride and Lancaster Italy as well as Color Watch, German brand Helveco, featuring Swiss-made watches and watch winder brand WOLF.
The British School of Watchmaking are also supporting Jewellery & Watch London and will host a watch press briefing at the show on June 19 at 11am.
In addition to all of these watch brands showcasing their newest collections at London’s Saatchi Gallery on June 18-19, Jewellery & Watch London will also play host to over 100+ jewellery brands including CHIMENTO, The Fifth Season by Roberto Coin, Luca Carati, Rosato, Amore & Baci, BIBIGI, Constantino Rota, Lalique, Gianfranco BIGLI, Aurum of Jersey, Heinz Mayer, Parisi Luxury Jewellery, Nomination, TUUM, Uno de 50, 5th Avenue Jewels, Chavin Jewellery, Deakin & Francis, Fei Liu Fine Jewellery, Ingenious Jewellery, Pearl & Queenie, V Jewellery, Kirsten Goss, Kastur Jewels, Jerboa Jewellery, Heliopolis Accessories, Mark Milton, and RUIFIER.
