How would you sum up the Bina Goenka style?
It is avant-garde jewellery for the contemporary woman who would like to accessorise her outfit, whether it is for work, a normal day, or the red carpet. We create art jewellery and produce a very limited number of pieces per year. These are catered to a discerning audience who are already clients. These clients understand the craftsmanship and effort that has gone into making a piece. The style is very bold and plays with dimension and colour.Bina Goenka jewellery is rarely flat and small. The pieces are built in a manner that is extremely comfortable to wear.
Who are your muses?
My muses are my clients. I make jewellery that I know will suit my clients’ lifestyles, now and in the future. My art pieces are created to take my clients beyond their imagination, so that they can peep into a world that I inhabit in my mind.
What else inspires you?
I am inspired by everything around me – nature, architecture, geometry, anything! I love looking at things and replicating them in jewellery, using the natural materials and stones the world has to offer.
How do you work with gemstones?
Coloured gemstones and pearls are my favourites, and I am always looking for newer and more interesting ways in which to work with them. You will rarely find a Bina Goenka piece featuring just diamonds, unless it is a combination of coloured diamonds, because I love working with colour!
