The highly anticipated 2021 edition of the Craftsmanship & Design Awards, hosted by the UK’s Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council, will take place in its first-ever virtual iteration on Monday 17th May 2021, opening digital doors to all who wish to attend.
As the industry counts down to this prestigious annual event, the GC&DC is prompting people to register for their free tickets to attend the virtual ceremony of the Craftsmanship & Design Awards, where this year’s winners will be unveiled for the first time, alongside the recipient of the anticipated 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award.
To retain the ambiance of Goldsmiths’ Hall in London – the traditional venue for the Awards – this year’s event takes the form of Covid-safe livestream production filmed at the Hall and aired via YouTube. It will be hosted by Rachael Taylor, jewellery journalist and co-founder of platform The Jewellery Cut.
Attendees will therefore join the ceremony from the comfort of their home, studio or office – or even on the go – with the GC&DC encouraging its virtual guests to use the hashtag #GCDCAwards across social media to celebrate this year’s event and winners.
Commenting on this year’s livestream Awards format, Rachael Taylor says:
“It is unfortunate that the continuing pandemic means the truly talented winners of this year’s awards won’t be able to gather in person in Goldsmiths’ Hall to celebrate their achievements, however what the new digital format will do is share their incredible work with a much wider audience.
“We had so much fun filming the virtual ceremony at Goldsmiths’ Hall, and I really hope everyone will join us for the livestream – an innovate, history-making evening that will deliver the magic of GC&DC Awards digitally, wherever you are.”
The borderless digital ceremony ensures craftspeople, jewellery fans, press and budding designers can secure a place to attend the virtual ceremony on 17 May, celebrating with their friends, colleagues and peers from anywhere world.
