UK retail had a tough year, with economic headwinds keeping shoppers cautious. Against that backdrop, family-owned diamond, jewellery and watch retailer The Beaverbrooks Group held turnover steady, grew like-for-like sales, and continued investing in its people, stores, partnerships and communities.
Resilient trading performance
Like-for-like sales rose 1.1%, worth an extra £2.4m, driven by the strength of the product range, brand partnerships and the level of customer service across stores and online.
Underlying operating profit fell 9% to £7.8m, reflecting higher costs, including employer National Insurance contributions and an increase in the National Living Wage. Including £5m of exceptional income*, total operating profit rose 49% to £12.8m.
Anna Blackburn, Managing Director of The Beaverbrooks Group, said: “The resilience of our performance and growing like-for-like sales is testament to our strategy. We continued to invest in our people, product, stores, digital and e-commerce offering to ensure we can provide the best possible products and service to our customers. Our business has remained strong for 107 years because we believe in the high street and the importance of exceptional products and customer service.”
Investing for the long-term
The business strengthened its product offering, with the development of new jewellery and diamond collections, including True by Beaverbrooks, a fully traceable diamond collection, while also launching new brand partnerships including Coach, Nomination and Astley Clarke, and enhancing existing partnerships, working in collaboration to create TAG Heuer and Breitling worldwide-exclusive watches.
Investment in stores has continued; a refurbishment programme is now under way across the store portfolio, continuing through 2026/27. The programme will see a significant expansion and redevelopment of the Lakeside store as well as the unveiling of a new and exciting concept in the brand’s flagship Beaverbrooks store in the Trafford Centre.
Continuing its expansion, the Beaverbrooks Group opened its fourth Loupe boutique, with Sheffield joining Milton Keynes, Preston, and Croydon as the fourth Loupe store, all of which are official Rolex stockists. The business’s investment in a new 80,000 sq. ft head office, set to open next year, also demonstrates its commitment and confidence in the future of the business.
Giving back to communities
The Beaverbrooks Group’s core purpose is to enrich lives, which simply means making a positive difference in local communities. Giving back is a huge part of Beaverbrooks’ values. £1.54m was donated from The Beaverbrooks Charitable Trust and Beaverbrooks the Jewellers Ltd to charities and local causes during the year, taking the total donated since 2000 to £26.6m. Each year, Beaverbrooks encourages colleagues to choose causes close to their hearts and in 2025/26, this resulted in £66,803 being raised through their own fundraising, matched pound for pound by the company. Additionally, 625 days of paid volunteering time was given to causes in local communities.
In 2025, Beaverbrooks was recognised for the 14th consecutive year for its commitment to Payroll Giving, winning the Diamond Award for the eighth time; 43% of colleagues now give to charity straight from their pay. The Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10K, run in support of Trinity Hospice, raised £112,745 in 2025, up from £84,990.59 in 2024.
Mark Adlestone OBE, Chairman of The Beaverbrooks Group, said: “At Beaverbrooks, we take our commitment to charity and community very seriously. We’re proud to have donated £26.6 million since 2000, and even prouder of our people who choose, year after year, to give their time and money to causes that matter to them.
“Every year, the Beaverbrooks Charitable Trust supports over 500 local charities. That kind of impact across the UK and beyond is what makes me proudest. That work matters more than ever, and I know it will make a genuine difference to those communities in the months and years ahead.”
Commenting on the outlook for the 2026/27 financial year, Blackburn said: “Despite a challenging retail environment, we remain optimistic and continue to focus on what we can control: a strong team, a clear plan, and a customer offer that continues to resonate with existing and new customers alike, whether people are shopping for a major milestone, a gift or a self-purchase. We’ll continue to invest in our people, product and stores – continuing the long-term focus that strengthens the business – while staying agile to adapt to any short-term challenges.
“The year ahead will not be without its challenges, but we go into it with momentum, confidence in the fundamentals of the business, and a long-term view of what Beaverbrooks can achieve.”
