New Antwerp diamond sector to have high profile at Vicenza
ANTWERP, December 20, 2009 – The Antwerp World Diamond Centre’s (AWDC) pavilion at the upcoming Vicenzaoro First show in January will host 12 Antwerp-based diamond companies, reinforcing sentiment that the European market outlook is improving.
The Antwerp Diamond Pavilion will be located at a prime location in the prominent G hall, Diamond Avenue, near the East entrance, at the Vicenza fair.
The January 16-21 Vicenzaoro First fair, traditionally the first major event on the global jewellery industry’s calendar, is regarded as a trend-setter for jewellery designs, giving a preview of the designs that will be seen in the new year.
Jewellery buyers from around the world visit the Vicenza fair to seek the latest jewellery designs.
With financial indicators showing that many European countries are either emerging from or are already out of recession, Antwerp diamantaires say this is the right time to invest in marketing in Europe.
Organisers of the Vicenza fair are expecting 1,500 exhibitors from Italy and 31 countries, and say that a redesign of the exhibition space will make it easier to visit.
“We are very much looking forward to seeing the state of the European market, along with overseas markets, at the Vicenzaoro First show,” said AWDC CEO Freddy J. Hanard.
“After a difficult year in 2009, we believe there is renewed optimism as the global recovery gains strength and Antwerp diamond firms want to be well-positioned to enjoy rising demand.
“They will also be able to see the new fashions and trends for the coming year and that provides them with an advantage in being able to make adjustments to the products they offer.”
